Possible Causes

Ways To Assist Children With Learning Differences

A multi-disciplinary team can provide holistic assessment and analysis of the underlying factors which may include:

Factors relating to child :
  • Sensory impairment
  • Physical impairment
  • Cognitive impairment
  • Emotional problem
Factors relating to carer :
  • Parental factors
  • Family relationship
Environmental Factors :
  • Family
  • School
  • Peers

Detailed Assessment May Enable Identification Of Correctable Factors

Children with borderline or subnormal intelligence may be poorly motivated to learn if placed in a classroom in mainstream school as a result of their inability to understand what is being taught. On the other hand, children with superior intelligence may also have poor motivation if they find the subjects too unchallenging.
